Anonymous FTP Server

The anonymous FTP server option allows you to run your own corporate FTP site, giving you the capability to distribute any type of file you want via anonymous FTP.

Additionally, the anonymous FTP server provides the capability to allow people to upload files to the server.

Your FTP server address will be ftp.your-domain.name .

CGI-BIN Support

Virtual Web Server customers are provided with their own CGI-BIN directory on the server. This gives you the ultimate flexibility in designing powerful, custom applications on your web site. Complete development tools are available to allow you to develop and run CGI's written in C/C++, PERL, or shell scripts.

Data Transfer

No additional fees are charged if your Virtual Web Server generates less than the specified allotment of Data Transfer per month. Data transfer is defined as "outbound" traffic from your web site. Each time a web page is accessed by someone, data transfer is generated.

Once your Virtual Web Server generates more than the specified allotment of data transfer per month, there will be additional fees as follows:

Disk Space

Clients requiring more than the standard allotment of disk space can purchase additional disk space in 50 megabyte increments.

Each additional 50 megabyte block of disk space is billed as follows:

External E-mail Forwarding

Some clients want to be able to redirect e-mail sent to a particular e-mail address under their domain name to one or more external e-mail addresses. For example, you have multiple Mediaforce provided mailboxes, but one of your employees works in another country and prefers to "POP" his e-mail from a local mailserver. You can setup an "external alias" for this person so that e-mail sent to username@company.com will be forwarded to employee@country.com. In this case, Mediaforce's mail servers will accept the e-mail messages first and then re-deliver them to the external address(es) defined by you.

FrontPage 2002 Extensions

FrontPage 2002 Support allows you to use the Microsoft Frontpage 2002 program to create and maintain your web site. The extensions are not installed by default, but you can request them at any time.

FTP Access

You have unlimited FTP (file transfer protocol) access to your account, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week to setup and maintain your web site. FTP access allows you to design your pages locally on your machine and then when they are ready, to FTP the files to the server.

FTP Accounts

You can create additional FTP accounts for your website (up to the stated limit per package type). These can be used by your employees to manage specific sections of your website. You could also allocate FTP accounts to some of your customers to upload/download special content to your hosting account (either within or separate from your website content).

SQL Datasources

Mediaforce supports Microsoft SQL ODBC datasources for Coldfusion under the Profusion package.

Microsoft SQL server (MS-SQL) is a powerful, high-performance database system. Each MSSQL server is running on separate, dedicated servers which provide ultimate performance for your database hosting requirements. MS-SQL is a commercial DBMS which runs on the Windows operating system. MS-SQL is powerful, user-friendly, and very feature-rich.

Profusion customers can use MS-SQL as their database server under Coldfusion.

Please note that Mediaforce does NOT support the MS-ACCESS ODBC drivers. Extensive testing by Mediaforce has shown that these drivers are unstable and prone to problems.

POP3/IMAP/WebMail Mail Boxes

When you purchase a Virtual Web Server from Mediaforce, you will also be provided with a number of POP3/IMAP/WebMail compatible mailboxes.

POP3 and IMAP are two protocols which most mail programs (such as Eudora or Microsoft Outlook/Mail) support.

Additional mailboxes are available for $5 per month per account.

Raw Logs

Raw web logs are available for download by all VWS clients. Once you have downloaded the raw logs to your PC, you can run sophisticated analysis software on the logs. Log-analysis software can provide you with statistics, charts, and graphs on many different aspects of traffic to your site.

SSH Access

Virtual Web Server customers using UNIX servers are provided with ssh access. This allows you to "login" to the server to run programs on the server. You may want to do this if you are developing a CGI in a language such as C or C++ and you need to compile it on the server. People who are familiar with UNIX based systems may find the ssh interface easier to use than FTP when editing files or moving files around on the server.

Web Statistics

Mediaforce provides reporting tools which allow you to generate reports which summarize visits to your site. These reports can show you which of your pages are most popular, where your visitors are coming from (by domain), and which days of the month or hours of the day are the busiest on your site. NOTE: Web logs are kept on the server for up to 45 days. If you require historical logs, please refer to this page .
